MEET YOUR LOCAL WEST AUCKLAND PORTRAIT & WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

…WHO IS ALWAYS FINDING SAND IN HER POCKETS.

I never planned to be a photographer. Photography found me & through it, I found myself.

I have been photographing professionally since I was a teenager. I studied film photography in highschool and gained a key to the darkroom to develop my work in my lunch hour. It provided an escape for me and a place where it felt like time stood still.

I often recall the glowing red room where there was no sound but the trickling of leaky taps, sloshing of developer liquids and muffled sounds of the school yard that felt like worlds away.

I’ll never forget the first photograph I captured with a handmade pinhole camera. I tremulously laid it in the developer tray and watched as the image emerged and came to life, it was absolutely thrilling. I was hooked.

Eventually, I realised that the art of photography wasn’t just for creative exploration but a way to bring light and joy to other people.

I left school and leapt into the ever changing, competitive and challenging industry of professional photography. In the last 17 years I’ve lived and breathed studio portraits, fashion, bands, sports, tourism, mountaintop elopements, weddings, babies, families, birth, end of life, businesses, brands and commercial photography.

I often get asked what my favourite thing to photograph is. Truthfully, it’s not an environment or a certain situation, it’s being in the presence of the raw essence of what someone is feeling in that moment and embracing it within an image. Connection, expression and heartfelt moments make me feel alive, because - that is what it means to be human.

Where there is discovery, passion, presence and awe - I’ll be there with my camera.
